A strange incident happened in Odisha’s Keonjhar district. This incident is shocking, but it mainly shows a misunderstanding rather than intentional wrongdoing.
A man named Jeetu Munda wanted to withdraw ₹20,000 from his sister’s bank account after she passed away. He went to the bank many times, but he says the staff kept asking him to bring the account holder (his sister). Since he didn’t understand the proper rules and thought they wouldn’t believe him, he did something extreme, he dug up her grave and brought her skeleton to prove that she had died.
The real issue here is lack of awareness. Jeetu did not know that when a person dies, money can only be withdrawn through a legal process. Usually, a nominee or a legal heir has to show documents like a death certificate and proof of relationship. In this case, even the nominee had died, so Jeetu is the only rightful person left to claim the money but he still needs to follow legal steps.
Later, the police stepped in and explained that the man didn’t know the proper legal process to claim the money. The police also said they would help him get access to the money in the correct way. The skeleton was then respectfully buried again.
Overall, this incident highlights a bigger problem in rural areas. Many people are not aware of banking rules, and sometimes officials also fail to explain things clearly. Because of this gap, a simple banking issue turned into a very disturbing situation.
