IndusInd Bank shortlisted three candidates for IndusInd Bank next MD and CEO position. Bank should send the name by June 30 to RBI for the final approval. The three candidates are:
- Rajiv Anand – currently works at Axis Bank and is expected to retire soon. He joined Axis Asset Management Company in 2009 as its first Managing Director and CEO. In 2013, he moved to Axis Bank as President of Retail Banking for five years and also became a member of the bank’s board of directors in the same year. In 2018, he became the Head of Wholesale Banking. Since December 27, 2021, he has been the Deputy Managing Director at Axis Bank. He has 35+ years of banking experience.
-
Rahul Shukla – works at HDFC Bank, currently on a break (sabbatical). He began his career at Citibank in 1991. During his time there, he held various roles in India and other countries. At Citibank, he was the Head of Corporate Banking for South Asia. He was also part of Citibank’s Global Corporate Banking Operating Committee, that helps plan and guide the bank’s corporate banking strategy around the world. He has over 30 years of work experience.
- Anup Saha – Recently, he is promoted to Managing Director at Bajaj Finance. He has over 30 years of work experience and out of that, he has spent 25 years specifically in the financial services industry — which includes areas like banking, loans, and finance-related businesses. He worked at ICICI Bank for 14 years before joining Bajaj Finance in 2017.
The bank currently doesn’t have a full-time CEO because the previous CEO, Sumant Kathpalia, resigned in April. His resignation came after a controversy involving the bank’s derivatives portfolio. Since then, a group of senior executives is running the bank temporarily.
The final decision is expected soon, and Rajiv Anand is likely to be the top pick because he has a lot of experience, especially from his time at Axis Bank, which makes him a strong contender for the role.
