A major bank robbery took place in Deoghar district on 22 september 2025, Monday afternoon. As per reports, around 12:45 PM, 6–7 criminals arrived on 3 bikes and stormed into the HDFC Bank branch located on Rajbari Road in Madhupur in Jharkhand. Eyewitnesses said that two individuals entered the bank wearing helmets and burqas. Shortly after, four more joined them. Once inside, they brandished weapons and confiscated mobile phones from all present. They took the customers and bank employees hostage at gunpoint and broke into the bank’s vault to loot cash and gold. They also physically assaulted customers and staff while carrying out the robbery.
The robbers stayed inside the bank for approximately 20 minutes, during which they looted a significant amount of cash and jewelry. As soon as they fled, the police were informed. A team including the SDPO (Sub-Divisional Police Officer) and Madhupur’s Inspector-in-Charge arrived at the scene and began investigation.
Authorities are currently assessing the total amount stolen. No arrests have been made yet, and the investigation is ongoing.
