A woman named Babita Sinha, who lives in Sopan Enclave, Priyadarshini Colony, Aliganj, has reported that jewelry worth 1.5 crore rupees was stolen from her locker in the State Bank of India (SBI), Kapurthala branch.
According to Babita Sinha, her husband Rajesh Sinha, who was a businessman, passed away some time ago. She and her husband had a joint locker in the bank. The locker contained gold and silver jewelry worth about 1.5 crore rupees. When Babita checked the locker on January 12, she found that all the jewelry was missing.
She informed the bank officials, but even after checking, the jewelry could not be found. After this, she filed an FIR (police complaint) at Aliganj police station, accusing unknown bank employees of theft. Babita stated that the locker contained five gold jewellery sets, six gold bangles, three pairs of earrings, three gold chains, three gold coins, two nose rings, and two pairs of silver items, all of which were found missing.
Police Findings During Investigation:
The police officer said that there were no signs of damage to the locker from outside. No one knows when or how the jewelry disappeared. The case is being investigated.
During the investigation, police checked her husband’s CIBIL (credit) record and found that he had taken a gold loan. Babita said she had no knowledge of this loan. Police are now investigating whether her husband may have taken the jewelry from the locker and used it to get a gold loan.
A similar incident happened earlier in Bank of Baroda, Chowk area, where jewelry worth 1 crore rupees went missing from a locker in 2020. A police complaint was also filed in that case.
