As December 2025 commences, banking clients throughout India are advised to be aware of several holidays designated for banks this month. Based on the official holiday calendar issued by the Reserve Bank of India, banking institutions will not operate on various days owing to a combination of national holidays, state-specific celebrations, and standard weekend breaks.
The key national holiday in December is Christmas, which occurs on December 25. On this day, all banks throughout the nation will be closed.
In addition to this, various local holidays will result in the closure of banks in certain states and cities.
Customers are encouraged to consult their nearby bank branches and organize their transactions ahead of time to prevent any issues.
Although physical banking services, such as cheque clearing and transactions at bank counters, will not be operational on holidays, digital banking services—including UPI, mobile banking, internet banking, and ATMs—will remain accessible.
