The Government of Maharashtra has officially rescheduled the public holiday for Eid‑e‑Milad in Mumbai city and its suburbs, moving it from Friday, September 5, 2025 to Monday, September 8, 2025.
This decision was made to ease the administrative and civic burdens arising from the proximity of two major religious observances: Anant Chaturdashi (on September 6, when Ganesh idols are immersed) and Eid‑e‑Milad.
The Government of Maharashtra has changed the public holiday date under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. Meanwhile, in all other districts of Maharashtra, the Eid‑e‑Milad holiday remains on September 5, 2025 as originally announced.
