The Odisha government has reversed its decision and will now allow HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Axis Bank to manage the money and accounts of the state government or any government-supported organizations.
Earlier On June 21, the Orissa government has removed all three private banks HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Axis Bank from its list of empanelled banks over poor performance in government schemes and general banking services over the last two years.
However, on July 1, the top officials of HDFC, Axis, and ICICI Bank met with Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and gave written promises to do better in government welfare schemes which will help to lift people out of poverty.

Bank officials have assured that they will actively support the Odisha government’s efforts to provide greater access to loans. Government aim is to help people improve their livelihoods and increase their income by making credit more easily available, especially to those in need.
After receiving these assurances, the government decided to cancel its earlier order. Now, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Axis Bank are once again allowed to work with state government departments and handle their deposits and transactions.
