Odisha CM Asked ICICI, Axis, HDFC Bank To Support Govt Loan Scheme after De-Empanelment

Today, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met with the top officials of HDFC, Axis, and ICICI Bank at Lok Seva Bhawan to discuss their poor performances in government welfare schemes. On June 22, the Odisha government had removed three private banks HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Axis Bank from its list of empanelled banks. Over the last two years these banks were not performing well in schemes like:

  • PMEGP (to help small businesses start up).

  • PM SVANidhi (for street vendors).

  • Stand-Up India (to support women and SC/ST entrepreneurs) and in areas like farming, housing, education, and exports.

  • These loans are part of government welfare schemes meant to help people improve their lives

During the meeting, The Chief Minister said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the central government is running many programs to help poor people. The goal is to give them access to loans so they can earn more and improve their lives.

He told the banks to do better and give loans on time to poor and deserving people so they can benefit from welfare schemes . He said that financial help is key to lifting people out of poverty and that banks play a crucial role in this effort. He said these loans are important for connecting people with economic opportunities and that the banks must take their role in government schemes seriously. Banks must ensure that loans are easily available to the poor.
