A part of a Canara Bank branch building in Agra suddenly collapsed because construction work was happening nearby for a mall.
When people heard rumors that cash might be buried under the debris, a crowd gathered there. The police had to come and control the situation so things didn’t get out of hand.
Luckily, only four customers were inside the bank at that time (because of the heat wave), so no one got injured.
The bank staff quickly acted and safely moved about ₹25 lakh to another branch.
Now the main problem is with the lockers. The keys and access points are stuck under the debris, and the entrance is blocked. Because of this, people cannot access their lockers right now. The bank is even trying to create a temporary entry from the roof to reach inside.
For now, the bank has shifted its work to another place, and they expect that after safety checks, locker access will be restored within about a week.
