Karnataka Bank appointed Raghavendra Srinivas Bhat as MD and CEO as the interim Managing Director and CEO. The Board of Directors of Karnataka Bank held a meeting after the previous MD and CEO, Srikrishnan Hari Hara Sarma, resigned on June 29 due to personal reasons and decided to appoint Raghavendra Srinivas Bhat as the Managing Director and CEO of the bank for a temporary period of three months starting from July 16, 2025. This appointment is approved by the Reserve Bank of India and will last until a permanent MD & CEO is appointed.
Professional Experience of Raghavendra Srinivas Bhat
- Raghavendra Srinivas Bhat has been working at Karnataka Bank for over 38 years and was recently promoted as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) in June. He began his career in Karnataka Bank as a clerk in 1981 and gradually rose to senior roles over the years.
- Bhat has worked in almost every important area of banking such as Human Resources, IT and Digital Banking, Treasury and Foreign Exchange, Insurance, and Rural Banking.
- For more than 10 years, Raghavendra Srinivas Bhat has been in senior positions at Karnataka Bank where he had major responsibilities. During this time, he was involved in making important decisions and guiding the bank’s strategy.
- The bank also informed the stock exchanges that he will be one of the key decision-makers in the organization from July 16 onwards.
