HDFC Bank CHRO, Vinay Razdan Resigned, Effective June 18, 2025.

Vinay Razdan, the Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) of HDFC Bank, has resigned. His resignation is effective from the end of business hours on June 18, 2025. The bank shared the news in a regulatory filing, confirming his resignation from the end of business hours on June 18.

According to Razdan’s resignation letter dated June 2, he will serve a 3-month notice period and will be on ‘gardening leave’ (meaning he won’t actively work during the notice period unless asked to). The reason for his resignation has not been shared yet.

Professional Experience of Vinay Razdan

  • Vinay Razdan joined HDFC Bank in 2018 and served as CHRO for 7 years.
  • Before HDFC Bank, Razdan worked as CHRO at Idea Cellular (joined in 2006) for over 12 years and played a key role in the company’s merger with Vodafone India to create Vi.
  • He is an alumnus of Delhi University and has a postgraduate degree in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from XLRI, Jamshedpur.
  • He has over 30 years of experience in HR and has worked in industries like FMCG, IT services, and telecommunications.

Two months ago, Mint reported that Razdan might leave the bank, but HDFC Bank did not confirm it and called it a rumor. One of Razdan’s team members could take his place, though the bank is also looking at candidates from outside. During the January earnings discussion, CFO Srinivasan Vaidyanathan shared that rather than expanding headcount, HDFC Bank is aiming to improve efficiency and productivity among its present employees.
