According to Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) Chief Executive Atul Kumar Goel, The Enhanced Access & Service Excellence (EASE) reforms have significantly empowered public sector banks (PSBs), aligning their operations with the national vision of Viksit Bharat.

To transform the way public sector banks function in India, the government introduced the EASE (Enhanced Access & Service Excellence) reforms — a roadmap for improving access, service quality, and overall banking efficiency.

How EASE reforms play a bigger role in shaping a developed India (Viksit Bharat)?

  • Banks are reaching out and supporting more to small and medium-sized businesses. Banks are also giving them better access to loans and financial support.
  • Banks are adopting new technology. They are using Generative AI (GenAI) for smarter operations. Many banks have moved to cloud-based systems, making them faster and more efficient.
  • Banks are enhancing their frameworks for managing cybersecurity and operational risks. They are recovering bad loans (NPAs) faster by using digital tools and better tracking.
  • Banks are focusing on diversity, better training, and smart workforce planning to improve employee performance. Banks are setting clear goals for staff using data.

The latest EASE 7.0 reforms build on improving internal capabilities—introducing scientific performance management, encouraging gender diversity and future-proofing banking operations.

At the same time, PSBs are making dedicated efforts to ensure banking is more accessible and seamless across branches, mobile apps, websites, and other digital channels. Public Sector Banks (PSBs) have consistently played a vital role in driving India’s economic growth, particularly in underserved regions.
