On Thursday, the CBI carried out searches at multiple locations in Kolkata in connection with a bank fraud investigation. They are checking the home of a well-known businessman and other locations to find evidence and understand how suspicious money transactions happened. They searched the home of a businessman in New Alipore and some locations in New Town, along with a few other places.
Five CBI teams carried out these searches at the same time. Their goal was to collect important documents and other evidence linked to the case.
The officers are mainly trying to find out where the money involved in the fraud came from and how it was used. Central security forces were present with the CBI teams to make sure the searches went smoothly and without any trouble.
The searches were initiated after the CBI received specific inputs related to the fraud case.
