Two branches of a private bank in Kochi received a fake bomb threat. Someone sent an email claiming that explosives had been placed inside the bank branches at Pallimukku and Mamangalam, and that blasts would happen by noon. The message said the threat was from a banned group, CPI (Maoist).
After getting the alert, police rushed to the bank branches along with bomb disposal experts and dog squads. They carefully checked the buildings but did not find anything dangerous. So, the threat turned out to be a hoax (a false alarm).
The police have now started an investigation to find out who sent the email. They are working with email service providers to trace where the message came from.
